Winter 2025-2026

Wow. Winter. Specifically, this winter. It’s been the worst winter for skating since the Snopocalypse of 2015.

Insane winds. Sleet. And then two feet of snow, immediately followed by a month of polar vortex (which had the effect of making sure the snow didn’t melt, and temps remained in the single digits). I have not skated on a regular basis since the end of November because of the weather. I have not skated, at all, in over a month. Worse, the snow on the ground, combined with the insane cold and wind (“real feel” down to -25 F) has precluded almost any outdoor activity. I am someone who would rather be outside than inside, in almost all situations, but not this one.

We are supposed to get about 3 more inches of snow tomorrow, but then it looks like temperatures are FINALLY going to go above 32 degrees (mostly in mid-to-upper 30s) for a while. That will both feel incredibly WARM (compared to the single digits we’ve been experiencing), and start to facilitate (finally) some snow melt-off. I know March can be messy and cold, but if we can just get through the next 2.5 weeks of February…life will be so much…brighter…on so many levels.
